Tea! thou soft, thou sober, sage, and venerable liquid, . . . thou female tongue-running, smile-smoothing, heart-opening, wind-tippling cordial, to whose glorious insipidity I owe the happiest moment of my life, let me fall prostrate

A GALWAY speciality Organic tea company has been selected as one of the ten most innovative food companies at the IFE, one of Europe's biggest international food trade shows.
Solaris Botanicals is a family-run business in the Ballybane Enterprise Park, specializing in the blending and preparation of internationally award winning whole-leaf organic teas. It is the only company in Ireland hand blending organic first flush tea and herbal tea.
Simon Hulstone, Michelin starred chef-patron of the Elephant bar and restaurant in Torquay and current Knorr National Chef of the Year highlighted Solaris Tea's as "good, fresh-flavoured teas, incredibly aromatic and very easy to drink."
Following that accolade and a successful show, Solaris secured distribution of its high-grade, organic whole leaf teas in Italy, France, Greece, and Saudi Arabia. "We are very proud of our success." says Joerg Mueller, CEO and Master Tea-Blender "and are just about to close a deal with Sweden". The value of those distributorships are estimated at € 1 million.
For a company as young as Solaris this is indicative of their quality ethos and as testimony to that come their 6 Great Taste Awards & Best Irish Organic Grocery Product Award in 2007 & 2008.
To tie in with the IFE, Solaris launched their Spa Flowering Tea Range, which is unique in Europe and is suited to the gift and Spa market. When steeped in hot water, the flower buds slowly blossom into breathtaking displays. Solaris have also recently launched their bio-degradeable silken tea-bag range, for which Solaris is still looking for an Irish food service distributor.
Being uniquely placed to represent Galway with their Chinese tea associations, Solaris will be show-casing their tea range at the Volvo Ocean Race in Galway and are currently discussing the possibility of supplying teas to the Green Dragon Lounge.
